AIRi@UTCN participates in the first in-person meeting of the 5G-SHARE project

Announcements

AIRi@UTCN is pleased to announce our participation in the first in-person meeting of the 5G-SHARE project. Hosted by the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Donegal in Letterkenny, Ireland, this two-day gathering marked a major milestone in our collaborative effort to shape the future of digital connectivity in academia.

About the 5G-SHARE Initiative

5G-SHARE is a transformative European initiative dedicated to deploying advanced 5G standalone mobile private networks. The project's core mission is to enable large-scale, cross-border innovation in both education and research, creating cutting-edge digital learning environments that will modernize European educational infrastructure.

The project is co-funded by the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF Digital) programme.

A Strong European Consortium

This initial in-person gathering provided an excellent opportunity for partners to collaborate, review early progress, and map out technical developments. We are excited to be working alongside our international consortium partners from Ireland, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Italy:

  • Atlantic Technological University (Ireland)
  • FifthIngenium (Italy)
  • Vodafone Romania
  • National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest (Romania)
  • Vodafone Ireland
  • Vodafone Czech Republic
  • Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic)
  • ADAPTA studio (Italy)

Meeting Highlights

  • Day 1 opened with a warm welcome from ATU President Dr. Orla Flynn and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Computing, Prof. Graham Heaslip. The consortium focused on project coordination, technical work packages, and upcoming use-case activities, reinforcing our shared ambition of advancing 5G-enabled research across Europe.
  • Day 2 shifted to the technological backbone of the project, featuring insightful presentations from our partners at FifthIngenium and ADAPTA studio exploring the technologies available to support use-case development and experimentation.

The coming months will see AIRi@UTCN and our partners aligning on the next critical steps for successful project implementation. We extend our sincere thanks to ATU for organizing and hosting a highly productive event, and to all consortium partners for their engagement.
