About

The Center for Immersive Technologies in Education integrates advanced reality capture technologies, an enterprise-grade XR platform for content development and deployment, and large-scale immersive visualization into a unified end-to-end pipeline, supporting the capture, creation and delivery of immersive learning experiences at scale. C0.jpg Core technologies 3D Scanning & Reconstruction: a multi-technology reality capture suite that produces high-fidelity digital twins of objects, artifacts and environments, from millimeter-scale detail to building-scale spaces: C1-1-2.jpg Structured-light and laser scanning: Artec Leo, SHINING 3D FreeScan Combo+ and SHINING 3D FreeScan Trio handheld scanners for high-resolution, high-accuracy capture of objects and surfaces, complemented by a Trimble X9 terrestrial laser scanner for large-scale spatial and architectural capture. Photogrammetry and photometry: the ARAGO by Rigsters, a fully automated, 5-axis robotic photogrammetry and photometry system for photorealistic 3D reconstruction with accurate geometry and surface detail. Motion Capture: a precision optical motion capture system that records human and object movement with high spatial and temporal accuracy, for use in immersive content and research: C2-2-3.jpg Optical motion tracking: an OptiTrack system with 8 PrimeX 41 cameras for accurate full-body and object tracking across a 5 × 7 m capture volume. Interactive Multi-User Learning Experiences: an enterprise XR ecosystem for developing, managing and deploying collaborative learning environments: C2-2-2.jpg Enterprise XR platform: VIROO by Virtualware for developing, managing and deploying XR learning content and virtual environments. Spatial deployment: the VIROO Room Player deployed on HTC VIVE Focus Vision HMDs, allowing users to move freely and interact simultaneously within a shared virtual environment, supporting collaborative, embodied learning at full scale. C2-1-2.jpg Immersive Visualization: a large-scale, headset-free immersive environment where users share the same visual experience, for teaching, presentations, collaborative analysis and public engagement: C2-1-1.jpg Cylindrical projection display: a 180° Igloo Vision cylindrical display powered by Barco 4K projectors and the layer-based Igloo Core Engine platform, delivering high-resolution imagery, native support for 360° content, and flexible control of immersive experiences, from presentations and interactive applications to external content integration.
